This news comes from the updated system FAQ on the official PlayStation Web log, noting the: "PS5 hardware supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) through HDMI 2.1." It also notes that VRR volition be available afterward a future software update for console owners who have uniform TVs. Naturally, games themselves need to back up VRR also.
For those that don't know, VRR is quite an important characteristic for consoles and games that are aiming for loftier frame rates. And so you wind upwards with a much smoother overall gameplay experience, which is exactly why people like high frame rates in the first identify.
Information technology's not clear why VRR wasn't available from launch day, peculiarly since Sony's official specs sheet confirmed that it was supported. The Xbox Serial X has it right out of the box, with no demand to sit down around and look for an update.
It'southward non clear how long we'll have to await for VRR to arrive on PS5, merely obviously it's worth remembering that it is a luxury characteristic. A lot of users have been reporting issues with their consoles, including the recently uncovered "queued for download" bug, and Sony'southward priorities should be to make sure everything is upward and running correctly. Then we likely won't see VRR earlier the end of the year.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X and both out correct now, letting you play all the all-time next-gen games. Assuming you take a console, of grade, and they've not been piece of cake to detect.
